The workers said they'd be back around 7:15 this morning. They arrived shortly after 9 and started loading the old soil and debris into a truck to be hauled away. Only one truck was used and they had to make several trips, so this took a long time.

They worked until around 5 PM today. A large pile of crushed rock for the interlocking brick was left in the road without pylons or other safety markings. Let's hope nobody runs into it.

We got a real shock when we saw how high the floor of the kennel is at the back. It's supposed to be about 24" but it's actually 27". When you hold a tape measure to the ground, it doesn't look high at all. When you build the retaining wall that fits that height and tries to level the ground, you realize how sloped our back yard is. Gasp! We're not doing the rest of the landscaping in the back this year, which will also be about that high with steps down to the back, so the kennel sticks out like a sore thumb. The dog house is supposed to go at the back with some kind of shade over it, so we'll have to plant a couple more cedars to block the view for the neighbours.
