Three guys showed up just before 8 AM today and started work on completing the brickwork for the steps through the hedge and to place the river stone around the patio stones at the side of the house.

Just before 8:30 AM, the contractor who stole our bricks dropped by and replaced them. You know, if they'd have just told us the truth and promised (and followed through) on replacing the bricks on Monday morning, it wouldn't have been so bad. I was actually impressed with their work ethic of working weekends to catch up, but I don't think I'd want to use a company that was shady because they could just as easily turn it back on their customers.

This is a very short day. They packed up and left around 11 AM citing the wet ground as reasons they couldn't continue. I suppose that's partially correct because the ground was wet. But, the arbor that was supposed to be built today, wasn't. In fact, the guys didn't even know that they were supposed to put in sonotubes to anchor the arbor. They could have poured the post for the new yard light, but didn't. They could have finished laying the patio stones in the kennel, but didn't. They could have planted the tree, but didn't. They sort of covered the root ball a bit, but it's just lying on top of the soil.

They finished laying the river stone from the side out to the walkway and through the hedge. They swept sand into the brick gaps, but they'll have to try again because they missed a lot (they seemed to be in an awful hurry to leave). They also put river stone around the patio stone border and placed our old front step on the side of the garage door so make it easier to get in and out. But they left an ugly gap between the patio stone and the wood border.

The ground dried out a bit later in the afternoon, but once these guys have left, they don't come back.
