As of 10 AM nobody has shown up. I noticed that they took all their tools with them yesterday, so that's a bad sign. I guess they think that if we're on vacation starting tomorrow, we won't care if things are just left as they are. Wrong!
I called the owner and left a message asking him what the plans were for today. It's a beautiful, cool day, the ground is pretty dry and they have a lot of work to do. While we have delayed planting the shrubs until we get back, what about the sod and arbor and lamp post and tree planting? We were told the arbor would be built yesterday.
The owner called and said the arbor would be installed at the end of the day as it was being built in the shop now. The tree would be planted tomorrow and the rest of the work early next week. It will be interesting to see if the arbor is anchored in concrete as it calls for on the contract.
It's hard to believe this company wants to complete the extensive landscaping we had planned for the back yard next year. Not with this attitude. Especially when we explicitly informed the owner prior to awarding the contract, and he agreed, that once the job started, the workers would not leave until it was done.
