The landscaper showed up this morning and completed the dog kennel. When I got home in the early afternoon, after picking up the van that was in the shop for the third time in two weeks for the air-conditioning (but that's another story), I found they had finished.
The fax finding the landscaper in default of the contract had some effect, I guess, but they let it go right down to the wire. Today was the last day I was going to allow them to finish before replacing them with someone else at their cost.
The job looks OK. The gate latches on two posts depending on which areas we want the dogs to have access to, but it doesn't latch properly on one of the gates, so I'll have to fix that.
They dumped soil around where a flower bed was supposed to be, but as you can see from the picture, it blocks part of the pathway through the gate so this too will need to be corrected.
The reason for the second post being in the middle of the yard is because the landscaper's drawing was not correct regarding the flower bed against the house. The post should have been right against the house, but there would be no room to walk through.
Anyway, we're glad this is over and we don't have to worry about ever seeing the landscaper again. It took them 8 (count 'em) weeks to finish a job they promised would be done in 2 to 3 weeks.
The landscaper called and asked if everything was OK. I said yes because I don't want them back. He asked if we could settle the amount owing today. I told him we'd put a cheque in the mail on Monday. Let him wait for us for a change.
